Object No. 21 - Stone mortar and pestle.
The story of this mortar and pestle starts when I found a piece of lime stone at the stone masonry in Råbäck, Kinekulle in Sweden. I wanted to make a mortar from it by hand carving. I made a stone carving chisel and used this to carve a cavity in the rock. Afterwards I turned a pestle on the lathe from a left over piece of wood laying I had saved for a long time. Together these pieces can be used to crush small amounts of spices.
Material: Lime stone, wood.
Tools used: Miter saw, lathe, stone carving tools.
Size: 115x110x75
