Hammers.
As hammers are crucial for any workshop I created my own set of hammers from, to have a good feel with these tools and have a stronger connection with them. The shape is inspired by japanese hammers, rectangular hammers where the handle is offset from the center. The hammers have a flat side and a slight rounded side, this side is crucial for woodworking used in a technique called Kigoroshi, “killing the wood”. This side is used to hammer the wood so that the fibres spread without having a harsh dent and breaking the fibres. The hammer heads are forged to my liking, the handles are hand carved from wengé wood using my other hand forged chisels.
Material: carbon steel, oak, wengé.
Tools used: Anvil, hammers, forge, belt sander, files, block plane, spoke shave, cardscraper, chisel, measuring tools, angle grinder, japanese saw.
Size:
No.1: 290x110x25
No.2: 290x100x20
No.3: 290x140x25
